On my Mac/Windows PC…Cyberduck

On My Mac/Windows PC is an on-going series highlighting the software (and sometimes, hardware) I use on my Mac nearly every day. Look for additional On My Mac…posts in the coming weeks! -- Douglas

Anyone who does anything on the web will have need of an FTP (file transfer protocol) program. You often need to use ftp to upload or download files from your web site or you might also use it to transfer large files between you, your co-workers and/or you clients.

Cyberduck is a free, full-featured, ftp program that fulfills almost anyone's needs. It support sftp (secure ftp) and a number of other associated services. Once connected to your ftp site, a simple drag-and-drop will move files to or from that site. No fuss. No muss. (SMILE)

Cyberduck is now my first recommendation to anyone getting started with a web site. It is free, fast and functional.
