Quora Questions: How to enjoy dvd on ipod?

Here is my answer... "Douglas E. Welch, Independent Computer and New Media Co... ? Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) allows the easy ripping and converting of DVDs to MP4 formats for any iPod. Converting for your specific iPod allows you to view the entire movie without wasting disk space. Typical conversion takes less than 1:1 time wise and you don't have to rip all the extras if they are not needed. Highly recommended." Read all the answers to How to enjoy dvd on ipod? on Quora.

Elsewhere Online: Microsoft Security Essentials 2 Released

This note is for Windows Users only. I Just saw the notice below that Microsoft Security Essentials 2 is now available directly from Microsoft. I didn't notice it automatically updating so you will probably need to use the link below to download and install. Be aware that it will ask to restart your computer at the end of the install. Microsoft Security Essentials is your first line of defense against virus and malware, so I highly recommend you have it installed and install this upgrade as soon as you have time. It is always easier to prevent and infection than try to remove the nasties once they get in. Having Security Essentials installed won't guarantee your protection, but it will go a long way towards preventing the most obvious infections. iPhone: Word Lens app translates written languages, visually, in real time

Imagining pointing your iPhone at a sign in Spanish and seeing it translated into English, directly and in the same position on the sign or menu. Word Lens brings this to your hand, today. This $5 iPhone app currently translates English to Spanish and reverse, but the company says other languages are coming. This video explains much more than I can in trying to describe something which has been the realm of science fiction for decades.

TechIQ Gift Guide #15: Sams Teach Yourself Wordpress 3 in 10 minutes

#15 Sams Teach Yourself Wordpress 3 in 10 minutes Chuck Tomasi , fellow Friends in Tech member and co-author of Podcasting for Dummies , along with another Friends in Tech member and podcasting partner, Kreg Steppe , have a new book out that would be a great gift for anyone interested in blogging and New Media. Wordpress is my first recommendation when someone wants to get started with blogging, but it can be a little intimidating. It is very powerful and with power comes complexity. That said, this book can help to jumpstart your Wordpress knowledge and help you be productive. There is also a companion podcast to the book, Wordpress in 10, available from the author's web site. From Amazon.com... "Sams Teach Yourself WordPress in 10 Minutes gives you straightforward, practical answers when you need fast results. Create a Twitter ticker for your office using DEXTR

I have an older Mac Mini that I use for recording my podcast, Quicken, iTunes and other typical uses, but lately I have taken to working on my Macbook Pro while ensconced in my easy chair. I figured I could make better use of the screen on the Mac Mini so I went looking for possibilities. When I first saw mention of DEXTR , I thought it might finally provide an easy way to get the "lean back" Twitter ticker I always wanted. I can't always have my Twitter client in the foreground. (I have to work SOMETIME (LAUGH)), so DEXTR provides a great way to casually monitor and consume my Twitter feed while I doing other work. It is especially great for monitoring when breaking news is happening and I like it a lot better than leaving the TV tuned to CNN as the news I find in Twitter is directly related to me. Even better, DEXTR requires no software downloads or install. It runs in your favorite browser. To try it out, visit http://dextr.riglondon.com , login to your Twitter a

TechIQ Gift Guide #14: SD Memory Card for your cameras

#14 SD Memory Cards "Don't forget the batteries!" used to be the big reminder in Christmas' past. Today, though, the cry would be "Don't forget the memory!" If you are gifting a digital camera, camcorder or media player, make sure you have enough memory to make it useful out of the box. An inexpensive 8GB SD memory card (or other appropriate card) is a great addition to the gift and let's your friend or family member put it to use immediately. Ric Turner's Christmas Light Show 2010 - Snowball Blaster - The Game

Anyone can LOOK at Christmas lights, but can you PLAY your Christmas Lights? Ric Turner of Santa Clarita ups the ante from last year's Christmas Light Hero by creating an interactive video game -- Snowball Blaster -- using the Christmas lights on his house. Players sit in a moving rocket seat and try to blast the snowballs to help Santa make his rounds. The garage door is the play field and the entire house interacts with the game. Old school arcade fun on an entirely new scale! Watch/Download "Snowball Blaster -- The Game" - iPod Ready Video Watch "Snowball Blaster -- The Game" on You Tube Ric adds... "The Christmas Light video game - Snowball Blaster! Hop in Santa's electric training sled and grab the game controller for an adventure in snowball dodging. Press the left button to move left and the right to move right. Make it past all the snowballs for a big light show! (nobody has made it yet!) Game is easy enough for kids and challenging f

TechIQ Gift Guide #13: Kinect for xBox 360

#13 Kinect for xBox 360 This is the HOT tech gadget for this Christmas season and it will get you out of your chair and jumping around in ways you haven't done in years. (LAUGH) Kinect tracks your body position and then uses that information to control specific xBox 360 games. Availability is limited on Kinect (of course) so it may be a bit hard to find, but if you are already an xBox 360 family it could be a nice addition to your gaming.
