Google's app for presentations, Slides, launches on iOS via Engadget It took quite a while to get here, but Google has finally brought its Slides app to Apple's mobile platform. Roughly three months ago, the search company introduced standalone apps for creating/editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations, but Slides didn't arrive until weeks later, and only on Android. As of today, Google's application for PowerPoints presentations is now also available on iOS. Update:  PSA: The Chromecast Extension Is Making All YouTube Videos AutoPlay In Chrome via Android Poilce   What an ugly, ugly bug to deploy to thousands of Chrome users. I noticed this today when my Google Analytics page started playing help videos every time I reloaded the page. Android Poilce blog indicates this was a bad push of new YouTube software that manifested itself in the Chromecast app. Disable the Google Cast extension in Chrome to alleviate the problem until Google provides a fix.  -- Douglas Google Cast Chrome extension bug turns on auto-play for YouTube videos via Gigaom A strange bug has been affecting a subset of Chrome users since Monday: Embedded videos have started to automatically play as soon as a user opens the page that contains the video. The Arduino Yun Shield via Hack A Day A few years ago, the most common method to put an Arduino project on the web was to add a small router loaded up with OpenWrt, wire up a serial connection, and use this router as a bridge to the Internet. This odd arrangement was possibly because the existing Arduino Ethernet and WiFi shields were too expensive or not capable enough, but either way the Arduino crew took notice and released the Arduino Yun: an Arduino with an SoC running Linux with an Ethernet port. Giant Spirograph Delights Children, Dwarfs Banana via Hack a Day Late last year at a craft show, [hahabird] and a friend came across a laser-cut Spirograph and they both had a go at it. After mocking his friend’s lack of fine motor skills, [hahabird] was struck with the idea of making a giant-scale Spirograph that would (hopefully) be less frustrating for kids of all ages. He generated the gears using an InkScape plugin, and then moved the project to Illustrator for adjustments. After nesting the inner gear drawings, he was able to print them out on one 3×3′ piece of paper at the local FedEx-Kinko’s. To make a template for routing he pieces that make up the eight-foot diameter outer ring, [hahabird] first cut it out of MDF and then bolted that to plywood. The outer ring’s size was dictated by the number of sections that fit on a 4×8 piece of plywood.
